A PhD in American literature, I taught at three universities, includingthe University of Maryland armed forces program overseas (Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, and Bermuda). Teaching Marines on Okinawa probably taught me more than I instructed them. Later, I wrote technical documents for BBN Communications, the Federal Reserve in Boston, and Fidelity Investments, where I earned a broker’s license. I also wrote articles for its financial services magazine (among others, interviews with Suze Orman and Larry Kudlow). This site contains samples from two novels, short stories, articles, and reviews, along with nine songs (music is another interest). Why write? William Faulkner said that “the problems of the human heart in conflict with itself … alone … make good writing because only that is worth writing about, worth the agony and the sweat.” |
